Things We Love...Chute Puller

It's the end of a long day.

Daniel is hooking up the trailer and the boys and I are packing up all our gear.

It is a daunting task...one I am too tired to take on.

But...the sooner the trailer is loaded, the sooner we are headed home to warm showers and nice comfy couches.

We sure have accumulated a lot of stuff!

All stuff that we have to continually load and unload.  It's back breaking work.
We still had our old steel chute when Weaver first came out with the chute puller.  We bought one right away.

The wheels on our steel chute were small, old and any time there was the tiniest bit of mulch or hay in the aisle, the chute turned into a bulldozer.  All pulled by us.

Daniel has a bad back to begin with and dragging the chute to the trailer quickly became one of the most dreaded jobs.

The chute puller is a life saver.  It jacks that chute up off the ground and makes it so one person can easily maneuver the heavy load.

We have since upgraded our steel chute to aluminum chutes, but we still use the chute puller.  While the aluminum chutes are much lighter than the steel, they still can be a strain on the back.

Since the chute puller makes moving the chutes so much easier, we pile up much of the smaller stuff on the top of the chute.  The fewer trips to the trailer, the faster the loading and the sooner we can be back on the road.

The chute puller folds up nicely so we can easily store it in the trailer.

It may seem like such a small thing...and maybe even a waste of money...but I promise you it's not.  At some point in your life you figure out all those things that make life easier really are worth the money.

Some might call it being lazy...I call it being smart.

We have the Weaver Chute Puller.

It has been run over with the 4-wheeler and the car, but it is still going strong.  The one wheel may be a little wobbly, but it still gets the job done.

Hello!  I am Heather... the city girl turned mom to manure loving country boys. My husband and I both grew up in the city, but spent weekends visiting grandparents in the country.  We are first generation farmers who learn best by almost always doing things the hard way.  I hope you enjoy following along with our adventures down on the farm.
