Another Ohio Beef Expo has come and gone. The Ohio Beef Expo is one of our favorite shows, There is such a camaraderie among the breeders and we always have a great time meeting up with old friends. One of the other things that we like about the Ohio Beef Expo is the opportunity to speak with and meet so many like-minded cattle people walking through the barns. It really is a week dedicated to the growth of the cattle industry. It is always an honor to be a part of such a great program. As always, the week was filled with lots of early mornings, lots of work, but lots of fun.

Another Ohio Beef Expo is in the books. We got home last night, unloaded the cows and a few necessities, took showers, ate a quick dinner and crashed on the couch. The plan was to edit photos during our down time at the Expo and have a blog post ready to go with all of the results. However...there was not any down time ![]() I figured it would benefit all of us if I got some much needed sleep last night instead of staying up late to get a blog post together for you.
I will be back next week with all the details... But, in the mean time... Just know that the 4 Wiley Farm name was represented very well. If you follow us on instagram and facebook, you may have seen a sneak peak. Until next week... We are in the final stretch of preparation for the Ohio Beef Expo. While we have been working up to this week for a long time, this weekend was consumed with last minute preparations for the big week.
To make things even crazier, we had 2 calves last week. We wanted to go into this week all rested, but instead, we are heading into the week already exhausted from all of the middle of the night barn checks. Saturday night about did me in with the time change and my alarm going off every 2 hours to make sure someone got up for their shift of barn checks.
While many farms are well into calving season this year, we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our fist calves. We have three cows ready to calve at any time.
Calving season can quickly turn ordinary life into chaos. You will find yourself out in the barn more than you are in your house...or your bed. Smart and organized people (I am not at all implying that we fall into this category) will have everything they need on hand and ready to go.
So how can you prepare for the impending chaos of calving?

We are first generation farmers who learn best by almost always doing things the hard way. I hope you enjoy following along with our adventures down on the farm. Archives
