October 10th and 11th is the North American Miniature Hereford Fall Classic held in Montpelier, Ohio. Montpelier is located in the Northwest corner of Ohio just miles from both Indiana and Michigan. Friday is weigh-in and Saturday is the show. This is a great show to attend if you are interested in learning more about the Miniature Hereford, if you are looking to buy a Miniature Hereford, or if you just want to test the waters of showing. This is Daniel showing Harriet last year (I promise I will get better pictures this year with my new camera). The show is very relaxed which makes it great for those who do not have much or any experience. Some people also use this show as an opportunity to introduce young cows to outside experiences. If you are planning to attend the show in Louisville in November, this is a great chance to get inexperienced cow's feet wet and calm some jitters.
They have a youth showmanship competition and the winner exits the ring with cash. We had a great time last year and got to know many of the breeders on a more personal level. There were even cows running loose (they weren't ours) and making a run for the front gate. The best part was watching the out of shape dads race after the cows. We are planning to take Rachel, Blue and Mitchell. For more information visit NAMHA. I know our boys are counting the days!

Labor Day weekend here at the farm was the perfect mix of hard work, complete relaxation and family fun. I guess pictures will describe it best.

AuthorHello! I am Heather... the city girl turned mom to manure loving country boys. My husband and I both grew up in the city, but spent weekends visiting grandparents in the country. We are first generation farmers who learn best by almost always doing things the hard way. I hope you enjoy following along with our adventures down on the farm. Archives
