Things We Love...Barn White Board

2/17/2020

The boys went tractor shopping this weekend and I stayed behind to do chores...and I really didn't want to go tractor shopping.

As I was out in the barn doing chores, I was reminded of how much I love our white board.

I know...it's nothing new and exciting...and most people already have a white board in their barn...

But, if you don't have one...you definitely need to go buy a white board.

Our white board is a relatively new addition.  Before the days of the white board, the boys would leave me with a detailed list of all the things I needed to do and what to feed each animal.

While I love these sweet little love notes...the white board is definitely an improvement.  You see...before, I had to remember to take the chore list out to the barn, then I had to fish it out of my pocket...with my gloves on...and then I had to shove it back in my pocket so the wind didn't blow it away.

It is sooooo much easier to just turn around and look at the board!

Before Louisville, we started experimenting with a bunch of supplements to fine tune each of the cows.  Each cow needs improvement in a different area...which means they each get different supplements and in different amounts.  It is way too much for any brain to handle.

Not to mention, the rations change on an almost daily basis.  As the cows grow and change, the supplement and feed rations change.  Just because I know what to feed one weekend, doesn't mean that I have any idea what to feed the very next weekend.

It all has to be written down.

This also comes in handy when one of the boys has responsibilities that keeps them from chores...and their very kind and loving brother has to do chores for them.  There is never any question as to what needs to be fed and done.

When you walk in our barn, you not only see the buckets of supplements, but there are trash cans full of different feeds just about every where you look.

And some more feed bags that haven't made it to trash cans.

I am hopeless without the white board!

And I love that they add a list of all the other chores I need to do....

Like the cats are going to let me forget them!

I secretly think this part is for our oblivious child...but he will never admit that.

Oh...and please forgive my children who still can't spell.
