Things We Love - Holland Grill

The 4th of July weekend is a celebration of America and what makes America great.  One of the tried and true American traditions is backyard barbeques.  This weekend there will be plenty of fires burning...from fireworks in the sky, to grills a grilling and marshmallows roasting in backyard fire pits.
Holland grill
We have come to love our Holland grill and would never replace it with anything else.  We bought a Holland grill about 8 years ago after seeing several demonstrations at our local county fair.  We were excited about the unique features of the Holland grill, but little did we know how perfect it would be for us.

Our freezer is stocked with our very own grass-fed Miniature Hereford beef, raised right here in our own back yard.  If you have ever had grass-fed meat, you know that sometimes is it not quite as tender as grain-fed beef.  While we have good marbling in our meat, grass-fed meat is also a leaner meat.

How do you compensate?

Cook it low and slow!

The Holland grill is perfect for this.  The grill is designed so that there is not a direct flame and it's functions more like a convection oven.  Perfect for that low, slow heat with the smokey flavor that only a grill can give.

My favorite feature of the Holland grill is it's no flare-up design.

What does this mean for me?  It means I put the burgers on the grill, set the timer and walk away.  When the timer goes off, I flip the burgers and then walk away again.  No babysitting!

The grill does take longer to cook the meat, but with a little planning, that can work in your favor.   I have been know to get a whole flower bed weeded while the grill cooks away. Talk about being handed the gift of extra time.

This is a favorite time for Daniel and the boys to work cows and do chores.  They know exactly when dinner is going to be done and they can smell it cooking all the way out in the barn.
American Flag
Why is the Holland grill perfect for your 4th of July weekend?  Because it is made right here in the USA, in the small town of Warrenton, GA.

Whatever your traditions this 4th of July holiday...

No matter the turmoil of this election year...

Be thankful for this country we live in and the freedoms that we have.

Celebrate the United States of America!

There is no place I would rather be.

All of these opinions are our own.  We have not been compensated in any way by these products or companies.

God Bless the USA!

Hello!  I am Heather... the city girl turned mom to manure loving country boys. My husband and I both grew up in the city, but spent weekends visiting grandparents in the country.  We are first generation farmers who learn best by almost always doing things the hard way.  I hope you enjoy following along with our adventures down on the farm.
