I am sitting on the back patio.... You know...the patio behind that door you haven't even opened in over a month. The patio, that until yesterday, had flowering weeds over my head. The patio built to be a peaceful place of retreat after a long day of work on the farm. That patio. That is the patio that I am sitting at today as I write this post. I have missed this beloved patio. Life has been a little full lately. Full of County fairs, State fairs, church camp, visits with grandparents, fulfilling responsibilities both in the family and outside the family. It has been full...but not bad. These are all life experiences. Opportunities to stretch and grow...become a better person. Opportunities to pick and choose what is most important. We are tired. Ready to be done. Ready to see each other more than just passing on the way to bed. Ready for routine. Not ready for homework...but ready for the normalcy that school brings with it. My men were gone last week. I used the alone time to get control of the house, paper work, yard and laundry. To bring some order back into this house. But I still felt lost. Like I was spinning my wheels and couldn't get traction. I needed the peace that only home can bring. It has been a while since I have picked up my camera and just taken pictures. Not pictures of the show ring or all the activity... Just pictures of the peace and calm of the farm. The daily view that we have missed from the back patio. This is my peace and quiet. What makes me feel at home. I have been home for almost two weeks, but I didn't feel home. I needed the serenity of the normal. My men are all back home and we are a family again. One last push to get hay done, and then we can really enjoy the view from the back patio. Back patio... I have missed you. You might also like...
