Pack It Up

We leave for Louisville, Kentucky this week to show at the North American International Livestock Expo.  

This is the first show of the season for us.  

We never feel ready enough, but ready or not, hear we come.

We spent the weekend making final preparations.  

Final baths.

Final ground work...some are better than others.

Finding show halters to fit the little guys...girls.

Loading the trailer for the long trip.

There is a ton of stuff to take.

We had to borrow a bigger trailer this year, but the longer trailer has a smaller goose.  It is like a puzzle getting everything to fit.

This year is going to be a little different for us.  

We are in charge of the Miniature Hereford show.  This means the boys and Nick are doing all the cow work while Daniel and I are making last minute arrangements for the show and making sure everything is ready for the cows to enter the ring.  

It is a huge undertaking and I keep thinking there is something really important that we have forgotten. 

Any time you have this many people come together for an event like this, something is bound to not go as planned.  We are taking our "go with the flow" hats and just hoping for the best...but it still has my stomach in knots.  .

At this point...it is what it is...and we are just going to smile and have fun.

But, the whole point of this show is so that amazing breeders and exhibitors can come together to showcase the animals they own and love.   

Some will walk out of the ring winners, and some will leave second best, but we all have the opportunity to better our cows, our programs and ourselves.

Oh...and one final thing we have to do before we leave....take 2 cows to a friend to baby sit.

Yep...we have 2 cows due to calve this week.
