September.... I am not sure how we got here. The temperatures are cooling off and we are constantly reminded that winter is just around the corner. My brain is still saying it is summer...and there is so much left to do before I will admit that fall is here. Last year's calf is gearing up for the final show of her career.... And this year's calf is just learning the ropes. The schohol year is in full swing. We are getting into a routine, but it is still hard to remember that there is homework to do. At the end of the day, our minds are still on hay...not Biology and Math. A quick walk around the farm reveals the weeds that have been left too long... There just isn't enough time. The asparagus...that seems we were just harvesting...is now preparing for next year. The bees are frantically preparing for winter.... And we are reminded that we haven't yet harvested the honey. Maybe we will wait 'til next year... How is it that such a nasty weed can have such a beautiful flower? The days are still warm and we have a little more time before we have to bring in the hoses for winter. Evidence that Nash has been out to the barn. He is getting better at listening and learning the ropes as a farm dog. When the cows are out to pasture, the stalls don't need to be cleaned. Before long, this wheelbarrow with be a daily part of chores. It's about time to change out the mineral for the fall formula. The calves are growing... Most aren't ready to be weaned yet, but a few more weeks and things will be getting a little noisy around here. You might also like...
