One of our bucket list items is to take the boys to Denver to show at the National Western Stock Show before Isaac graduates. Yes...that means it has to happen in 2020 or 2021. 2020 was not the plan...because the bank account was saying otherwise. Until...Wesson won Reserve Grand Champion at Louisville. There are times that all the plans get kicked out the window and you just seize the moment...and figure out the rest later. This is one of those years. We are on our way to Denver! January 1, 2017 we spontaneously decided to buy plane tickets and fly to Denver to watch the Miniature Hereford show. It is still one of the best trips ever! The first time for Walker to fly and the first time Isaac actually remembered flying. The goal was to scope out the show for someday when we arrived with a trailer full of cattle. We are now realizing that we didn't scope out the land very well. We still have lots of questions and unknowns...but we are just going to wing it! It is about a 24 hour drive...and we already warned our bosses that we will be back to work...unless we get stuck in a snow storm. Whose great idea was it to plan a show in Colorado in January? We have no idea what the week ahead holds for us, but we are just excited to finally be showing at the Miniature Hereford World Show! We are excited to see all our friends and meet many people we have never seen in person. We hope the cows do well...but that is all up to the judge...and we are going to have a great time regardless of what happens in the show ring. We are bringing a fitter along with us. He is just as excited as we are. No...we are not brave (or stupid) enough to squeeze 3 people into the back seat of the truck for 2 days, so our fitter gets the luxury of flying out to meet us at the show. We are in for a very busy week! The plan is to take a break and travel to Pike's Peak and spend some time visiting with some friends. Isaac and Walker have both applied for the Regional Ambassador position, so they will have interviews and volunteer responsibilities to keep them busy. Isaac is now on the Miniature Hereford Junior Nationals Junior Committee and they have plans too. If we keep them busy it will keep them out of trouble...right???? If you are bored at work, you can click here to watch the live stream of the show. We will be showing in the open show on Friday and the junior show on Saturday. "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" may be the postman's motto, but I think it's what every showman eats, sleeps and breathes. We are glued to the radar, but rain, shine, snow or ice, we are Denver bound...and not turning back! You might also like...
