It's been two years since we have been at the Ohio Beef Expo and we can't wait to be back on the grounds to show our cattle. We have just passed the one year mark since Ohio was shut down for COVID-19. A year ago, we were grappling with the frustration and disappointment of having one of our favorite shows cancelled the week before the event. Since that time, cancellations and waiting for cancellations have become a way of life. The future is looking brighter and the Ohio Cattlemen's Association is working hard to make the Ohio Beef Expo as normal as possible. Which means... We get to show this week! As with everything Covid...there will be a few changes. The biggest change is that there is only one sale ring, which means that the live sales will be on both Friday and Saturday this year. Last year we attempted to have our very first Miniature Hereford sale, but had to switch to an online only format after the Ohio Beef Expo was cancelled. This year, we will be having a live and online sale through Breeder's World on Friday at 2:00 p.m. EST. You can download the sale flyer below. ![]()
But our day will begin much earlier than that. Miniature Herefords will be showing at 8:00 a.m. Friday, March 19th in the Kalmbach Feeds Arena (also known as Cooper Arena). Isaac and Walker have been working hard getting the animals ready for the show. They spent the weekend making final adjustments and getting everything packed up and ready to go show. The Ohio Beef Expo is one of our favorite shows. Not only is it where we got "the fever", but it is also where so many friendships have been made. It has been a long time since we have seen so many of our friends, acquaintances and show family, and we can't wait to catch up on old times. We have also been able to meet face-to-face with so many of you that have followed along with us through the years. We always enjoy getting to meet all of you. We would love to have you join us on Friday, March 19th for a day full of Miniature Herefords. It all begins at 8:00 a.m. for the show. You can then come back to the barn to talk with breeders, bid on silent auction items and check out the sale animals. The Ohio Beef Expo trade show is always a big deal for our family. It is where those that think we have a money tree out back (they know who they are) think we can buy all the newest and greatest innovations on display. But seriously...it is where we get lots of new ideas for farm and herd improvements. We also tend to drop a whole bunch of cash on all the innovative items we have seen in the past and are now ready to buy. We always go ready with a list of wants and needs. It's the perfect time to buy those large items (or gallon jugs of supplies) that cost a fortune to ship. Lunch at the Ohio Beef Council food court offers an opportunity to rest those weary feet and eat a hearty lunch...while supporting Ohio beef producers. Finish the day off by bidding at the Miniature Hereford auction at 2:00 p.m. And if you are really smart...you will stop and get a big bowl of caramel apples and bananas before you find your seat at the sale ring. Be sure to stop by our stall and say hello. Let's be honest...we have spent far too much time on the farm and need some people time. You might also like...
