This year we are not making a list of specific things that we want to accomplish. Instead, we are adopting a theme that will help to keep up focused on our main goals. This year we are striving to do less and be more.
We want to do less so that we can enjoy those things that we are doing and be our best at them. In the past we have stretched ourselves too thinly. We go from one day to the next and one job after the other. Our focus becomes just crossing something off of our list so that we can move on to the next thing. In the process, we are just going through the motions and not savoring the moments.
Our calendar is still full, but we are trying to be very deliberate with each obligation and more focused on our overall goals.
Does this benefit all of us as a family?
Does this get us closer to our goals?
Is it right for us at this time?
Will we truly enjoy this or just go through the motions?
It is hard to believe that we are almost to the end on January.
That means that March is just around the corner.
And what does March bring?
New babies on the farm....
And the Ohio Beef Expo.
I have decided to start a new challenge for myself this year. On the 10th day of each month, I am going to take 10 pictures. I want to do this for several reasons.
On January 10, 2016...
At the beginning of every year, most people are making their New Year's resolutions and big list of goals for the year. We are not your typical goal setters around here. There really isn't a particular reason, it's just not something that we do. It really is kind of out of character for me, because I am constantly writing to-do lists.
We do think and talk a lot about what we would like to accomplish each year, but we just don't write it down, post in on the refrigerator or check things off the list. We just go about our lives. I know this will make some people gasp in horror. So much of our life is scheduled by outside forces that it works better for us to have a general direction and then work toward that direction one step at a time as our life permits. Some would say that we would get so much more accomplished if we had a plan layed out before us. Maybe some day when I have more energy.
However, having said all of that.....
Hello! I am Heather... the city girl turned mom to manure loving country boys. My husband and I both grew up in the city, but spent weekends visiting grandparents in the country. We are first generation farmers who learn best by almost always doing things the hard way. I hope you enjoy following along with our adventures down on the farm.
